Henry VI, Part 1 - Stephen Orgel, A.R. Braunmuller, William Shakespeare I read this way back in junior high; it was my first stab at Shakespeare. I don't think I completely understood what was going on, but I do recall Joan of Arc going crazy, pretending she was with child, and ultimately getting owned by the British. Funny what sticks with you.

Apparently Henry VI, Part I is considered Shakespeare's worst play. Some thing he didn't even write it! Figures my first Shakespeare would be his worst. Too bad they don't start you with Richard III or Julius Caesar.
